A baby boy is recovering after taking a tumble from the back of his mother's car.
Authorities say the baby's parents were having an argument outside their Omaha, Nebraska home when the mother took the boy out of the vehicle.
The father placed the boy, still in his car seat, on the trunk of the vehicle while the mother got back into the car.
The mother, not knowing the child was on the trunk, accelerated.
Seven-month-old Bryson Harlan fell face first onto the pavement.
"That was really scary driving down here and I was doing a lot of praying," Bryson's great grandmother, Jenelle Wilson said.
Wilson says she left work early when she heard what happened to her great-grandchild.
"I was just thinking about him falling, and he's only 6 months old and they're so small, so I was thinking he might have cracked his skull," Wilson explained.
Police investigated the incident as an accident, and tried to figure out where the miscommunication between the mother and the father started.
Bryson was quickly taken to the hospital.
"He has no skull fractures, he's pretty scraped up from where the gravel had hit him. And my daughter said his eyes going to be pretty well bruised," Wilson said.
The family says the young boy will be taken into state custody and his grandmother will try to get parental control.
Wilson says when Bryson gets better she doesn't want to let him out of her sight.
"Always watch them all the time, and make sure they're safe," Wilson concluded.
The 18-year-old mother and 16-year-old father were cited for child neglect.
The mother was also cited for driving under suspension, and negligent driving.
The family says Bryson will stay at Creighton Medical Center for a few days for observations.
